While it's a bit heavy handed, the release notes posted at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc514056.aspx may be your best bet.
It looks like you are trying to get a nice clean setup on a small cluster, so this document might be just the thing you need.
Basically you clean everything up and start over. Because you do not need to re-image, this should go pretty quickly. Gather all the node.xml data you can get from the existing installation before you tear up the cluster. Once you have the NIC MAC or system GUID in a node.xml file, you have complete control of the naming. We use this a lot to give location information about the nodes on large cluster. Things like Row, Rack, U within the rack. So CN032142 could be row 3, rack 21, U42.
