- What "steps above" did you follow to adjust the sound?
Usually there's an up and down button on the left side of the phone that will adjust the system and phone volume up and down. You can also adjust the volume within Windows Media Player, usually by opening up Windows Media Player to the Now Playing screen and then moving the jog wheel up and down. You can also assign keys on the device that can be used to adjust Windows Media Player volume by opening up Windows Player and going to the Now Playing screen, then select Menu > Options > Buttons > scroll down to find the Volume Up and Volume Down options and assign a button as desired.
