    Hello,

Windows mobile version 6.5 is on the way to it's release this month.
I got chance to test unreleased version of it Microsoft lab.
It has some improvements like IE 7.0, updated version of flash, it takes less rom to install. Windows 6.1 takes some what 28 mb rom where 6.5 takes only 20 mb or so mb rom for installation.
It has fancy touch, scroll options with lots of new 3d themes
    Battery life is improved.
I tried light version of windows mobile 6.5
In light edition of Windows mobile 6.5 Java is not included.
One need to install it manually.
Rest features are same as in 6.1 pro

    Regards,
    Amey.

I just had problems with my Palm 750 and grabbed an older Palm 750 (says cingular on the top), it does not have an option for updating Windows Mobile.  I am pretty sure it is an older version.  I have been searching for a way to update the software with no luck.    How would i go to 6.5?  I can't even figure out how to tell which version I am running.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Mike,

I don't think there will be an update  to Wm6.5 for your device. However, check Palm website for any other updates.

Mike, you will not be able to get a 6.5 upgrade for that device .... too bad, it is a great device.

if you go to START/SETTINGS/About Icon and click on it, the first line you read should say what version you have.

I think there was an update available for those that had WM5 to go to WM6 but that is no longer available to the best of my knowledge.

I would doubt it very much smunshees.

Since the only way to get an upgrade is from the vendor, the best way to check for updates is to go to the vendors website and periodically look.  If they are available, they will be listed under your particular device.

I understand that but it will depend on a few factors. First, if the device can handle the increased functionality and where that device is on their roadmap..  If it is going to stay and new devices produced with 6.5 then I would expect you to get one but if it is at its EOL (end of life) then it will not.  Only time will tell.

If you know how to cook ROM yourself, you can upgrade to 6.5 version.
Some developers from xda-forums has done that already.
6.5 upgrade for my hTc touch Viva build is out but I havent tried because I tried wm 6.5 build on my earlier handset i.e. Asus P320 and I found few bugs like Bluetooth was not working, camera also was not working & miss calls were not displaying.

But again that was designed for hTc including touch flow which is there in Viva handset.
Just Google it & you'll get 6.5 custom rom updated with patches for your 3g handset.

    Cheer's,
    Amey.
