    I bought one HTC touch Pro2 today and tried to sync it with the computer. I have Windows XP and downloaded ActiveSync4.5. I can charge the device and when it's connected to the computer it beeps, althoug I don't see it appear on the device manager window... There is an activeSync icon in the toolbar and the device says it´s connected. I can even access files on the device though explorer. The only problem is that partnership configuration assistant should open authomatically but it doesn't, so I can't sync with outlook!! And AS does't open by clicking on the icon either!!! What shoud I do?

    I turnd off firewall and anti-virus and it didn't work. I finally had to format C: and re-install everything and it worked... Thank you all for trying to help.

    Verify that "Advanced network functionlity" is unchecked on the device. You will find this in Start > settings > Connections tab > USb to PC. Then re-connect your device.

    My software is in portuguese and I don'd find anything like "Advanced network functionlity". Anyway everything is unchecked (flight mode, bluethooth, WLAN, Microsoft Direct Push, data connection) exept phone!
    I ran troubleshooter and it gave me:
    Unable to obtain an IP address for the device. Get up-to-date solutions to common IP address problems. Please click the following link... which I did and tried to follow instructions. They ask to open active sync in the device and computer but it doesn't open... Could it be a software problem in the device?
    Thanks for helping me.

    Open Activesync on your computer. Click File > Connection Settings. Is "Allow USB connections" checked?

    I am having the same problem. When I try to uncheck the "Enable advanced network functionality" I receive an error, "Failed to disable RNDIS to use Serial."

    @ifbj

    Hello. This might be a firewall problem. Can you try disabling the firewall and see if you can make the partnership? When you connected the TP2, did the firewall let you open some ports? What firewall are you using? I doubt if it is a device problem if you bought it that recently.
