- Actually it didn't show up in the device manager. But I found the problem. Quite intersting.. Under System Settings--> Connections there is a little icon "USB to PC" I clicked on it and unecked the "Enable advanced network functionality" in german "Erweiterte Netzwerfunktionen aktivieren". How am i supposed to know that this setting has to be uncked before connecting the phone to the PC?!?!?!
Thanks anyways for your help!

That is just one of those little nuances that we learn as connection issues arise. This FAQ over at Pocket PC FAQ might give you a little understanding on the Why and how Peter.
With the release of Windows Mobile 5.0, Microsoft changed the protocol used to sync via USB from PPP to RNDIS. This has caused some problems with VPNs and other networking software installed on the PC you sync with. So with AKU 2.3, Microsoft added back the ability to revert back to PPP. You can use this option to change the USB functionality for ActiveSync 4.x as well as Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) to improve network compatibility. The USB Advanced Network functionality is available in Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1.

- Hi Peter, Can you check in Devie Manager if your pda is listed there? You need to connect it to your pc for it to show up. What you can try is Uninstall the pda in device Manager (right click on it and select Uninstall). Disconnect and soft reset and restart your PC. Connect again. Keep me posted.

- I am having the same problem with the same device, except I cannot find the connection settings in which you mentioned, any further help would be great. My main problem is I cannot locate the connection tab after I've entered the System Settings.
- Enabled advanaced network functionality fixed this problem for me to.
This option is on the phone under settings (select the start menu, then settings, then connections, then pc to USB
Hope this helps! - Thanks Peter Ast.
I was facing the same problem.
As you suggested I unchecked Settings->Connections->USB to PC "Enable advanced network functionality". Problem solved.
