AnswerSync'ng IPAQ with Vista os converts xls file to pxl file on the pc

When sync’d my HP IPAQ with new pc with vista OS, xls files on my IPAQ devise converted to pxl file on my desktop preventing me to open the xls (pxl) file on my desktop to see the spreadsheet. Desktop Excel version is 2003.

To test reverse sync, an Excel file created on my desktop is being sync’s to my device and able to open the file as it is.

I downloaded new active sync SW from MS for Vista called Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.

Q.: How do I reconvert the pxl file on the desktop to xls file to have the same data as on my device? Vice versa, any update on the xls file on the desktop should sync to device as it is.

No help on HP site for this issue.

    Please advise.

I'm not sure how you managed to sync an XLS file to your computer without having WMDC installed on the computer since Activesync is not compatible with Vista.

Copy the pxl file directly to your IPAQ, then open the file up and save the workbook as an Excel 97/2000 file.  You'll need to abandon the pxl file format altogether since WMDC has no way to convert these files to an XLS file.

BTW, did you post a question on the HP IPAQ forum?  I hang out there and never saw a thread from you there or else I would have posted to it.
