QuestionProblem on Microsoft ISATAP Adatper #6

I have a LG R405 notebook with Vista installed. I turned on my notebook this morning and it says there was a problem and i had to reboot.

Once i did that, i lost my wireless connection completely. In the network connection and sharing, my wireless connection does not show up.

I went to Device manager and in Network adapters, Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #6 says "this device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31)"

When i tried clicking for a solution, it would only gave me "Check online for a soluition later" or "Don't check online"

Description of the problem says " Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tired to run. The problem code is 31"

    What should it do?

What mobile device are you using with your laptop?

I have a Palm PDA that i use to sync to my notebook . I do not use it anymore but i keep the information in the Palm Desktop for my reference.

But why would this remove my wireless connection altogether from the "Network Connection and Sharing"?.

Ok, I think I am understanding what you were saying now.

You are referencing the wireless connection on your LAPTOP and not your device (which is not a Windows Mobile device).

This forum is for Windows mobile devices so I don't think it is where you want to be to get a solution for your wireless connection.  Does your laptop provider have a support site?

You might well get some help in the TechNet forums (http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/default.aspx?SiteID=17)

there was a discussion there on the ISATAP here: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2643853&SiteID=17 but I don't think that is your issue with your laptop.

I would consider doing a system restore to a previous date that all was working to see if that helps.

    Good luck

For months I have successfully used as a wireless Network Adabpter the AT&T HTC8525 running WM6 tethered with a USB cable to a Dell E1705 running Vista 32 and able to get Internet connection with 3G speed.  After a reboot this weekend (Sunday, April 14) to complete some Vista updates I get the same exact error that you get and the same response when checking online for a solution.  I understand your problem because it is precisely the same problem that just came upon me this weekend after months of excellent performance by my mobile phone as a wireless Network adatpter.

Has anyone provided you with a solution?  I feel like it is a WM6 Vista 32  issue and probably only a Vista 32 problem since I have not made any updates to WM6 on my mobile phone.  Vista 32 is the only thing that has changed in my environment.

Surely there are high tech geniuses out there that can provide a solution to the problem.

    Please help.

On a Windows Vista-based computer, the Microsoft ISATAP adapter appears with a yellow exclamation mark next to it in Device Manager, and you also receive an error message

    Revision : 1.3

    SYMPTOMS

On a Windows Vista-based computer, the Microsoft ISATAP adapter appears with a yellow exclamation mark (!) next to it in Device Manager. Additionally, when you open the properties dialog box for the device, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Windows cannot load driver (Code 31)

    RESOLUTION

You can safely ignore this error message. This error message does not indicate a problem with the adapter. The adapter will continue to work correctly.

    STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

    MORE INFORMATION

The Microsoft ISATAP device Inter Site Automatic Tunneling Address Protocol is used to help enterprises transition to an IPv6 infrastructure. The ISATAP adapter encapsulates IPv6 packets by using an IPv4 header. This functionality enables the client to transport IPv6 traffic over an IPv4 infrastructure. This approach lets organizations slowly migrate to an IPv6 infrastructure without having to spend excessive time and financial resources to convert to the new infrastructure.

I am having the same issue. My wireless networks all disappeared and I can't access them. I am having the same exact problem as Lena.Lim. I did three system restores and nothing worked. I went to the system 32 folder and in the drivers folder I did find the driver so it is there. I don't know what to do.

This is a recurrent problem with microsoft, that ISATAP thing keep removing networks cards and you can't access to the internet...

Why Microsoft support CAN'T find a good solution to their shitty drivers??? OMG we PAIED for WINDOWS, so we are waiting for a decent support!

To have your connection back (its not a final solution, but can help), start CMD.EXE as ADMINISTRATOR (in Windows\System32 folder) and type:

    netsh winsock reset

    good luck mates..

By the way, the better solution for this problem is to switch on LINUX :) try Ubuntu, its a good one for beginners with linux :)
