Windows Mobile 6 on the Blackjack.  Synced fine with AcitveSync.  Contacts, Calendar, Photos sync fine with WMDC but Notes aren't even showing up as an option in WMDC 6.1.

Here is what I've done to work around the problem.

Migrating to Windows 7 from XP required that I reinstall Outlook 2003.  Notes was a function in Outllok after the installation, just as they had been under XP.  But in the Windows 7 environment it was impossible to sync my Mobile 6 phone notes with Outlook notes.

I just applied Service Pack 3 for Outlook and the notes function changed dramatically!  They are no longer a category that can be viewed simialrly to mail or contacts.  They now function like the Notes feature of Windows 7.  At least I understand why the phone isn't syncing to them, even if I'm unhappy about it.  Apparently Micorosft has replaced the old Notes function in Outlook with another product, OneNote.

However Tasks do sync.  I never use tasks on my phone, but I realized that I could replace the Notes with Tasks.  Tasks can be created without Due Dates or priorities.  They can serve simply as Notes.  It was a pain, but I've reentered the valuable notes that were in my phone into Outlook as Tasks.  Windows Mobile Device Center synced the task and I now have a way to keep the information in my phone and still have it backed up to my computer.

By the way, I did contact Windows Support about this and they were worse than useless.  The response was that the support person isn't trained in OneNote (which I never mentioned) and they gave me a link to their Virtual PC support group!!!  Apparently that was an error, because when I questioned that they gave me a link to their Office support webpage.  That is what reminded me to apply the updates to Office 2003 -- which made the old notes function in Outlook disappear.

Were you using a third part Notes application on the XP machine? I do not sync Notes, but to the best of my knowledge, it is not supported on Windows Mobile Standard devices.

I was using only the Windows XP ActiveSync that was supplied with the Blackjack.

Based on comments I saw in another article in this forum I've looked at the AcitveSync options in the phone.  It shows two PC's.  The first is the actual name of my PC "Netvista".  The other is the default name "Windows PC" which I don't use.

Under Netvista Notes is not one of the options, and Files and Favorites are grayed out.

Under Windows PC the lis adds NotePadSync and Media, but they are also grayed out, although NotePadSync is checked.

That is what I thought. You are using a third party application. You will need to install it on the new PC as well to be able to sync.

Thank you.  I appreciate your help but I need further assistance.

The only things I've installed related to the phone are the Outlook 2003 and the ActiveSync that were both supplied on the CD that came with my AT&T Samsung Blackjack, and one phone alarm application, "DontForget" which sounds a reminder if an alarm is overlooked.

If I try to reinstall ActiveSync in Windows 7 I get a message telling me that it has been replaced with a newer version and that version is WMDC.

If I look at "Remove Programs" on the Blackjack the only thing listed is "DontForget".  So I'm at a loss to determine how to get past this problem.  ActiveSync and Outlook communicated properly, including notes, under WIndows XP (making me sorry that I moved to Windows 7).

If I explore files on the phone I do see that the notes are stored in "\documents and settings\samsung".

I hope the information above helps in determining what I should install that will help resolve the problem, short of reverting to Windows XP.

Here, for example, is documentation that Microsoft ActiveSync supported synchronizing notes between a phone and Outlook:  http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/activesync-download.mspx

You'll see that the second bulleted paragraph says:
"You must use Microsoft Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003, or Office Outlook 2007 to sync your e-mail, contacts, tasks, and notes from your computer."

Nothing in his post implied third party software...

I have the same problem.  Note pad sync was no longer an option on my blackjack after Windows Mobile 6 update, and active sync under vista.

I have tried it on windows 7 and same issue notes was not an option.

It is supremely annoying I have tons of notes and want to get them off without retyping them all.

    Ring Ring, Google is calling.
