- Please help me. I have gone to Verizon and Optimum online with no success. I purchased a HTC Touch Pro 2 (love it), I can recieve/download email via Mobile Outlook, but I cannot send email. I used the auto configuration but get a "The message could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again." Please help the phone is so new that Verizon cannot tell me the problem. My email is essence1@optonline.net. I tried the hot fix link WindowsMobile61-KB958639.msi it will not install the error " The patch is intended for WM 6.1....The attached device is 6.1 AKU 1.6.5.0

Are you able to manually adjust the server settings? You should be able to change the Incoming mail server and the Account type. You should then check the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server. You will need to check with your service provider to get those account details.
But given the error you are getting I would think its the SMTP outgoing server causing the issue. Especially if you can receive email.
If you need help accessing those settings, I (or someone here) can help walk you through them...

I'm surprised that if you used the automatic configuration option that it did not work. It would have then asked you to set it up manually if it did not know the correct settings.
Let's check this:
If you go into the email setup, do you have the checkbox checked that says "Outgoing server requires authentication"? And is the box checked for "Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail"?

Yes to both questions. I see that this was a problem with other versions of Windows Mobile 6.1 but there was a fix.
- I've not used that service so I really can't offer too much. I did see this on their webite ... not sure how to advise.
