I decided to sync my emails from outlook on my XDA Atmos but cannot actually send or receive from them using my phone only when I re-connect it to my pc. I have email set up on my phone but not this way (even though it's the same address as my outlook one)! Anyway I can do this (I don't think my company uses a microsoft exchange)?

Email that is synced to your device to the INBOX can only be handled by syncing...if you reply to one of these messages or of you create a new email messa, the email is saved in the Outbox until you sync the device to your computer.  Then the message is synced over to your computer and sent from the computer.  This is the way syncing email works.

If you set up POP3 accounts on your device, then you can download mail directly to the device and you can send mail directly from the device via WIFI or GPRS/Edge/3G connection  Email that is handled via a POP3 account is never synced to the computer, so any email you send from the device does not get synced over to the computer.

POP3 and INBOX (synced) email are always kept separate and there is no workaround to change this.  I don't sync email any more because I want to send email directly from my windows phone.  Whenever I send email from my windows phone (through a POP3 account), I bcc myself so my sent email will be delivered to my computer the next time I download my email to the computer.  That way I'll have a full record of my email activity stored on my computer.
