Windows Live Messenger SYNC option messing up my contacts
- Hi,
When I was setting up Windows Live Messenger on my HTC Touch Diamond2, I chose the option of sync-ing my Windows Live contacts with my mobile phone's contacts. And that totally messed up my phone contacts!
Is there a way to UNDO the sync (I can't deselect the sync option on my mobile, I'm not allowed to click on it anymore).
Any help would be much much appreciated! Thanks!

- Hello. Good you got the problem solved. Here's another suggestion that can prevent such occurrences in the future. This free program will backup your PIM data on your device to your storage card. When you have a mishap, need to transfer contacts to another WinMo device or have to do a hard reset, you can restore the contacts very easily. Keep the program on the storage card, too.

- I managed to solve the problem! Reinstalled windows live on my mobile and reset the settings :) hooray.

- Hello. Did it create alot of duplicates? Seems like it can't tell since the contact icon is slightly different. I've done it, too. Here's a duplicate remover tool for your device:

You can't undo the sync. You have to try and fix it. Sorry. - Hi thanks lots. The duplicates are definitely a problem. But the bigger problem I'm facing is some windows live contacts that I DON'T want on my mobile phone contacts are now in my mobile phone. Tried deleting them all but everytime I open windows live messenger on my mobile it starts syncing again. :S
For now i'm just NOT opening windows live messenger on my mobile.
Is there no other way?:S - I managed to solve the problem! Reinstalled windows live on my mobile and reset the settings :) hooray.

- paperdoll_22, how do you manage to reinstall windows live on your mobile? I cant seem to be able to find the downloads for this.

Make sure you can uninstall via the "Remove Programs" route before you install/reinstall. I'm thinking some carriers have put it in their ROM. Otherwise, you may have two copies on the device.- Hi clloud, yep that's the link! Thanks fiat_lux
I have the option of uninstalling Mobile Live (which I reinstalled) via "Remove Programs". Thanks for the reminder :)
