HTC HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 AVI

I've just purchased the HTC HD2 which has WM 6.5 OS. Unfortunatley the Windows Mobile Media Player does not support AVI files. Can someone supply a link for a player that will play the file or a link for a codec pack that will allow me to play AVI files with the inbuilt player.

Hi,

I just have bought HTC Touch HD and it is giving me strange error i.e. "A problum has occured with repllog.exe." This error is happening whenever I am trying to sync my unit with my office mail exchange server and sometimes when i try to sync with my pc as well...Can anyone help me...

I have a WM 6.5 phone. I would like to know how to select text so it can be copied and pasted. I have tried selecting text in the Internet Explorer browser and in the SMS text tool. When I tap on the text with the stylus to select it nothing happens.

Please help me. I have gone to Verizon and Optimum online with no success. I purchased a HTC Touch Pro 2 (love it), I can recieve/download email via Mobile Outlook, but I cannot send email. I used the auto configuration but get a "The message could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again." Please help the phone is so new that Verizon cannot tell me the problem. My email is essence1@optonline.net. I tried the hot fix link WindowsMobile61-KB958639.msi it will not install the error " The patch is intended for WM 6.1....The attached device is 6.1 AKU 1.6.5.0

The Yahoo IM client options state the notification is a community default sound. I have attempted to changed it with the sounds settings on the phone and have been unsuccessful. Can anyone assist me with this small issue? I really don't like the Yahoo default setting and can't figure out how to change, if at all possible.

Outlook mobile hanging while "Looking for changes"

I have WinMo 6 Standard with Outlook. Ive just recently started having a problem. (I've owned the phone - HTC Shadow for almost 2 years) When I try do a send/receive at the 'looking for changes' screen my phone appears to be working but eventually the command stops and I've not received any new messages when I know that I should have. Sometimes this can take minutes to complete. My provider is T-Mobile. I've spoken to customer service and been told to create a new email account. I've done this, while keeping my original at the same time. I've had the same problem with the new account as well. Somedays everything works as it should, on others I experience the above problem. Tmo wants me to do a hard reset but I'm not convinced the problem is the software. I have a suspicion it's with there servers. Is it possible that Outlook has been corrupted? How can I trouble shoot this?

Media Player Volume

I have the original Dash & just started using the phone for music playback. However, despite having invested in nice headphones, the volume is REALLY, REALLY low even at the "100%" setting. Am I missing something or is the Dash &/or Windows Mobile a bad media playing option (e.g., it's no I-Phone)?

Also, I'm using a USB adaptor for a 3.5mm headset. I'm now noticing there's another connector, to the right of the USB port. Perhaps this is also for music playback & intended for a higher quality playback?

hi, recently i tried using the windows update in my HTC touch diamond 2, but each time i tried to update, it will always prompt me update unsuccessful. Is there anything wrong with my phone or is there something wrong with the connection? I have tried using WiFi connection, direct connection to my computer and thru my 3G network but all the above have been unsuccessful. Can someone please tell me what is the problem??

Help!!! - Problem with 1 year recurrences synchronization (Pocket Outlook - ActiveSync - MS Outlook 2007)

Hello, I experiencing problem with Pocket Outlook and MS Outlook 2007 synchronization. Problem is that appointments which has recurrence set to 1 year like birthdays, anniversaries ... are correctly transferred from PC -> PDA (when edited by MS Outlook 2007), but when I made some modification to such appointments in PDA with Pocket Outlook (for example changing reminder time, name, ...) then after next synchronization when changes from PDA -> PC were sent the 1 year recurrence is changed to 12 years!!! And the worst and most frustrating thing is that when I synchronizing between two PCs then all appointments with such settings are changed from 1 year to 12 years!!!. Maybe it should be 12 months I'm not sure. I'm using Windows XP with Outlook 2007 and ActiveSync 4.5. Is there some problem with configuration or it's a bug? Strange thing is that this problem is related only to yearly recurrences (at daily,weekly and monthly recurrences there is no problem).

I test it also after clean boot of my device and the problem still persist. I also have a chance to make a test with HP device where is WM6.1 but with the same behavior as WM5.0. So I think that this is a bug inside the Pocket Outlook or ActiveSync with handling yearly recurrences. Can somebody clarify it? Is it possible to get a fix for this?

Windows Live Mobile unable to synchronize or connect on Orange UK

Until yesterday morning things were working fine: I am running version 10.6.0039.130 of Windows Live Mobile on WM6.1 on an unlocked HTC Touch Diamond, connecting via HSDPA on Orange UK and was getting my email pushed to me.

I made no new changes, installed no new software, then suddenly it all stopped. If I try to force a sync by lciking on Send/Receive in the email application it gives me this message:

I'm on Orange in the UK and at the weekend Orange's mobile internet went all haywire. They fixed the internet connectivity though, and I can surf the net now, and connect to Twitter and Facebook. Google's sync (Exchange) works fine too. Windows Live still refuses to connect.

So, I am wondering whether Orange's repairs have had some specific impact on whether it allows Windows Live Mobile to connect. Or is it the Windows Live servers which are having problems? I can connect to my account on a PC and using a 3 SIM card I can also connect to Windows Live on the phone.

Is this a Microsoft issue or an Orange issue?

Witn Vista 64b, if I connect my HTC with Outlook not open, tasks created on the HTC phone are moved to the Deleted folder in Outlook. If Outlook is running when I connect the HTC phone, a new task crated on the HTC is moved into the Tasks folder within Outlook. Why are new tasks moved to the deleted folder if Outlook is not running?

Hi All,
I have switched from Nokia 5800 running Symbian S60 5th edition to HTC HD2 running Windows Mobile 6.5.
HD2 is a great device and HTC Sense helps a lot, however windows mobile is extremely difficult compared to S60.
I have some questions:
1- Is there a guide for Windows Mobile 6.5 itself and not the HTC Sense? I have read the quick guide at http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/qrg/ but it didn't help. Also the insider section of the windows mobile site doesn't seem to be enough.
I just need a user guide for Windows Mobile 6.5 that is as detailed as the HTC Sense guide.
2- I don't use Outlook to save my contacts but it seems to be the only way to sync. I have synced my Nokia contacts to Outlook 2007 then using Active Sync, I got the contacts and notes to my Windows Mobile. From now on I want to use My Phone as my backup and syncing option however whenever I delete my Windows PC entry from the Active Sync program, all the contacts are gone.
Is there a way to stop using Active Sync and persist my contacts?
3- In S60 you can assign more than one phone with the same label to a contact, i.e. a person has 2 mobiles and I don't want to classify them as work and home because they really aren't, in fact they are 2 numbers in 2 different countries. Also in S60, you can edit the label itself, i.e. mobile (favorite) and mobile (father) and so on.
On the other hand Windows Mobile is has fixed labels and you cannot use the same label twice. Is there a workaround for this?
4- Is there a way to stop automatic 3G data connection? HTC Sense can stop it momentarily but it goes back again. I want to download things via data connection only when I enable it first.
5- Can I create shortcut to profiles so that i switch between them?
6- Why the limit of 3 alarms, can I define more than 3 alarms?

WM 6.5 "Favorites" Slider Bar Question

I can't seem to find a way to put applications into the "Favorites" slider bar. When I hit the "add/remove programs" button it only gives me a list of 5 choices (none of which I want). It only gives me a choice to select or unselect those programs.

I'd like to put tasks and RSS applications into the slider bar but can't figure out a way to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there..
As I don't really know, where to post this question, I hope I have chosen the right forum..

I am using an acer DX900 with Windows Mobile 6.1pro at work.
As I have many Collegues and Friends from former Countries, I would like to have their Names displayed correct..
Unfortunately does WM not seem to support unicode.

"ละมุ่น" for example does not work..

I have tried to change the Systemfont already.
It worked good, but still Unicode is not available for Outlook Contacts etc...

Anything else I could try?!

How to Restore OneNote files?

I had to wipe and resotre my data on my Mobile device, one of the applications that I use for some info is
OneNote Mobile. I kow this is a bad word, but I assumed that all my onenote files were being backed up. I think I was wrong in that assumption.

After restoring the device and letting MyPhone push the files back down to the device, that worked grerat, I opened onenote only to see a blank list, not one of my files were available. I did a little digging and noticed that the files were restored to the "my documents" folder. I coppied one of the files to the location on the device were I discovered that new onenote files were created, however the one coppied is not coming up.

It looks like some of thefiles for each onenote is being backed up but not all of them, why?
Is there a way to still open the onenote file so that I can extract the information to use, one I need so that I can bill a clientf for time worked?
If the rest of the onenote data needs to be backed up how would one go about getting that added to the daily backups of Myphone so that I, or others do not run in this problem again.

Windows Mobile 6.1 Doesn't recognize numbers without dialing the Area Code

If i dial a number without the area code the phone does not recognize that it is a contact saved in my phone. (yes i have made sure the numbers are correct & saved in contacts) I live in an area where the area code is not required so it has become an annoyance that the phone cannot pull up the contact name without dialing an area code. On my old phone i could partially put in the number and it would pull up the rest of the number along with contact name. Any suggestions on how to fix this? or is it a issue with windows mobile 6.1? If so, will it be fixed on the new version?

Palm treo Pro windows update will not work

I have a Palm treo pro through sprint, and I have recently had problems getting windows updates. When I try to run the windows update it comes back as status: unsuccessful. When I click on detail it says that the "connection to the update server is not available. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is any way that I can fix this.

Hi! My name is Jose Aldana and I'm writing from Guadalajara, Mexico.

I just changed my mobile phone to an HTC s621... Incredible phone! Before I had a Nokia E62, which was also good but no WIFI and very slow OS performance so I decided to change it... Everything is working great (minus the j2me programs, they always feeeze). The only thing I'm really missing is an Auto Hang UP program I use to have in my E62... I have a calling plan that lets me call 10 mobile numbers for free upt to 5 minutes, so I need an application (as the one I had in my E62) that auto hangs up the phone after certain minutes when I initiate a call... Does any one know where can I find a software that does this? I've been searching everywhere with no luck!

Exchange activesync freezes

Hi there,

I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 using WM6.1 and I sync my calendar, contacts, tasks (see threads here for problems with that) and mail with my work's exchange 2007 server. I am doing this over the air, not via USB at my desktop.

I have found a few problems that make my device mostly unusable and I'd appreciate some help please. I believe these issues revolve around exchange activesync. I find the performance of my device fluctuates throughout the day and I have tracked this drop in performance to times where activesync is in progress back to the server. Further to this, I have experienced at least once or twice a day where activesync, in the process of syncing, will indicate via the status bar it's 75% or almost 100% complete but it just hangs there like that indefinitely. During those instances, no syncing actually takes place (confirmed by the fact my most recent mail message is hours old and I've received new mail since that time).

I turned off exchange activesync via the schedule to test my theory and the performance of my device was responsive and speedy.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I use my device for business and therefore need to sync back to the server otherwise what's the point. I'd love help please to troubleshoot this issue. Is it the server? Is it my device? Is there a problem with activesync itself (and given my previous unresolved threads about task syncing issues, this is a real possibility)?

I understand that Outlook Mobile does not support distribution lists. Is anyone aware of whether WM is looking to add this feature in the near future??? I moved to a WM device recently and this is about the only feature that I truely miss from my BlackBerry.

I pressed the menu option at the base of the touch screen and chose 'full screen' thereby making the menu option itself disappear from the screen. Question - how can I get the menu option back? I can't navigate without it.....

This is MS Facebook version 1.007, running on my HTC TYTN II WM 6.1 device. This is a fresh install, I never had any older versions of Facebook on this device.

Home tab > Photos shows "Fetching..." and nothing else.

Person tab > Wall also shows just "fetching..." and never shows the wall.

Mail tab > Inbox likewise shows "fetching..."

All other tab items seem to work, on both my Wifi and my Edge connection

Bug, or do I need to do something with my setup?

Anyone else having this problem...

I enter a Calendar entry on my HTS S710 (Vox) EITHER through the nateive Calendar program or through a 2nd party app (in this case, Agendus for SmartPhone Professional V1.1 Build 192). When I go to sync (USB connection), I get "The following appointment failed to synchronize on the device" with "Support Code 1" at the end.

Now, I've already tried running the Inbox correction tool and other Outlook .pst file correction tools, but to no avail.

Anyone else?

On my Windows 6.1 mobile device I loaded Skyfire and set it as my default. Like it but want to go back to Internet Explorer as my default. I have already removed Skyfire from my device. Is there a way to put my default back to Internet Explorer mobile ?

I have window vista on my laptop.
I have video clips that I have captured on my HTC Ozone phone with Windows Mobile 6. It saves by default as MPEG4 format.
Error -2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie (VIDEO_002.mp4).
The video can be viewed fine on the phone... But when I hooked the phone up to my laptop & can't play the video from the folder the error message is same Error -2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie (VIDEO_002.mp4).

Will I be able to upgrade my Samsung Epix from 6.1 to 6.5?

Contrary to other mobile phones (symbian based) where you can add a folder to SMS folder to store some of the personal messages, Sony Ericson X1(Windows mobile 6.1 professional) doesn't allow to add one under the SMS folder. I tried all means but failed miserably. Some times you might have some messages to be forwarded. I didn't find this function also in X1. Could someone advice?

I can't open a password protected excel file that I transferred to my touch pro 2. When using file explorer I can see the file but when I try and open the file it says "Cannot open password protected Microsoft excel workbooks" . Is there anything that I can do that will allow me to enter the password and open the file?

When I attempt to update my Windows Mobile software, I get an error message reading "Connection to update server was not available. Check your data connections and ensure the device date and time are correct." My settings are all correct, as my phone is set to automatically update its time and date settings, and my data settings are all correct, as all my applications using internet connectivity function properly. What do I need to do to get my phone to update?
