I had several issues with this phone so I decided to a Hard Reset from the setup menu. After reset the the green Windows mobile screen came up and ask to tap screen to setup phone. It then went to a screen labelled "align screen" and this is my problem. After tapping screen to move indicator for alignment it stays at last position and I cannot get out of this screen, it appears to be stuck on this screeen and I cannot finish the setup to get back to the "Today" screen. I also tried the Hard Reset as shown in this forum. After that it still ended up at the same position. My phone is the latest with windows mobile 6.1. Please HELP, this is a new phone and I need  get operational again

    Thanks

I think you have a problem with the alignment
In my opinion the only way is to either keep trying (tab the screen firm and correctly at all positions). If this doesn't solve your problem you should go back to the store where you bought the device. This is not normal behaviour

I had a similar problem with a HTC phone of mine years ago. Then I recharged the battery to it's full capacity and left the DC in the power point. Then I did a hard reset again. It worked; it passed the align screen ! Did you recharge your battery before hard resetting it?

It certainly would not hurt to try the Hard Reset again with the AC attached although I am not too optimistic that will cure the issue. If not, it appears there is an issue that might means you need to return the device for repair.  Is it still under warranty?

I have seen this before on other phones and it is vital that the battery must be charged 50% or more. For some reason lower battery capacity does not deliver enough power to control the touchscreen.

If the screen alignment program is not doing the trick, possibly there is something wrong with the digitizer and it might need to be sent in for repair.  I would try a hard reset then if it still does not work, it is time for repair or a new device.

    Hey Guys,

I'm still having serious issues with my Samsung SGH-i780. After having done a third hard set. I get to the alignment scren and can't get out. The target + moves to each corner point and keeps ending up at the center point. I can't get beyond this point. I can't believe this phone has been rendered totally useless and I don't really use the touch screen that much. This is a new phone and has been flakey ever since. Is there any way to bypass this alignment screen to get back operational. I have new programs in it plus a group of contacts. By the way I have encountered this problem twice before and after much trying on this alignment I finally got out. This time it looks like curtains.

Woul appreciate some input from anyone who has had this problem.

There is no way to bypass that screen Calsi.  Since it is a new phone, I assume it is under warranty.  I woud return it if you can for a replacement.
