can't open links

I am running IE8 on a Dell Quad 64 bit with Vista. I don't know what happened, but I cannot open any link on a web page or in an e-mail. Either nothing happens, or a blank page comes up. Or i will get error on page. I have a Toshiba laptop on my network running IE8 and vista and have no problems with it.

Windows Live Messenger keeps logging out! Please help? ;(

Hey I got a strange problem. When I log into MSN, either as "Busy", "Available" or "Away" I am disconnected after 3 seconds. The message it displays after it logs out is "Your connection with Windows Live Messenger has been lost. Reconnecting in xx:xx". The thing is, there's nothing really wrong with the internet and I haven't ever had this problem till very recently (3 weeks or so).

Also, the strange thing is, is when I log in as "Appear-Offline" the messenger doesn't log out and I can talk like normal to others. Although maybe after 1-20 mins it may disconnect.

This is really weird because none of this ever used to happen all throughout the 2 years I've been using it till now.

(Note: My ISP is Vodafone Mobile Broadband (Have been using this for 4 months or so), yeah I know it can be unstable at times but I don't think it's the cause of the frequent logging out. Because I'm able to do others things on the net such as watch YouTube videos without a problem).

[P.S. - The version of MSN I'm using is 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726). And I'm running this on a Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 with an ASUS M51N. I also am running AVG 8.5]

So please can anyone help me out?

Also, when I log in as "Appear-Offline" then manually switch my status to "Available", "Busy" or "Away" it still disconnects after 3 seconds.

Whenever I copy the embed info from a youtube video I usually set it to 480 width as optimum for my blog posts, however, it always resizes them to 425, (as well as changing the height) so I have to manually go into the blog post (into wordpress as I use word press software for my blog) and modify the width and heights. Also when I submit an image say at full hd (720p say 1280x720) WLW always resizes my image to half that (I don't mean thumbnails I mean to what it actually uploads to the server).

Why is this so?

I noticed that my Hotmail account sent 100nds of messages to people that I dont know.
That means im hacked. I change my password but still the same.
so I decide to contact some kind of support of Hotmail.

When you insert a picture in Live Writer the Source look similar to this:

Of course i can change the sourcecode in every Post i make, but isn't there some other way to do this? Because there is a part in the options where you can change the html-template for pictures. I tried, but didn't manage to mage title=Test Title" to show up.
I need this additional title-tag because i use a plugin (shadowbox) in my wordpress Blog which only recognices title, not img title, for the caption.

It would want to know if there is some way to keep a copy from posts that I publish in my blogs of local form in my hd. I talk about an identical copy that could serve to me to return to postear them all in case of lost in the servant. Meaning that it would serve as backup of the published thing. In case not it can if somebody you know of another program that can act that as that says it to me.

WordPress blogs have the ability to publish as a Private post that only the author can see. This is a different status from publishing as a "draft".

I don't see any ability natively to set this status in LiveWriter, and it appears the API only deals with Comment policies and Trackback policies.

I've looked at adding this via a plugin, such as a PublishingNotificationHook, but there is no access in the API to set this status value, and I can't see a way to modify the XMLRPC call.

Is there any way I could automate setting this in LiveWriter (besides creating a plugin in WordPress itself)? If not, can you add this (or some functionality in the API to enable this) in a future release?

Live 2009 Sound problems

ever since we upgraded to live 2009 the sound/mic seized to function (volumes of sound and mic are high)

It works well when doing the "audio check", and also when calling using other programs such as Yahoo messenger and skype, but not in a msn call.

Tried on both vista and XP, connecting to multiple xp machines (the same 2 users communicating) , without success.

Live Reinstall/Windows 7.

After all the text in the body of email messages disappeared, on a fresh install of Win7 Ultimate (it continues to be fine on other computers) I decided to re-install Windows Live.

After uninstalling and cleaning the registry with Ace Utilities, Live setup (both WLSETUP-WEB.EXE and WLSETUP-ALL.EXE) insists it’s already installed. Since neither gives you a force or repair option (hint to MS Live programming team) I am wondering if anyone else has a found a method to force a reinstall short of a fresh install beginning with Win 7?

Also since the removal of Live, IE crashes (below) if I visit Microsoft sites like Hotmail (I’m using Firefox to get this message posted). I disabled/enable IE in “Windows components” to no avail.

Hi,

I'm having issues in regards to when I upgraded my messenger. I used to have version 8.5 and it worked perfectly fine for me but then it started to prompt me to upgrade to the newer version. Once I did, I started having errors whenever I sign on and I can't see my contacts!!! All I see is plain white blank screen and whenever I scroll down it crashes . It's very frustrating and even though I've reinstalled it so many times it's still not working for me. I've searched through the forums and yet found no answer towards my problem. Please help me!!!! I would really appreciate it.

A few day ago I test live writer to manage my blogs, and it works fine, but there is a ploblem, which I cant solve.
If I add a picture the live writer add the picture code like ths:

I noticed that Internet Explorer 8 failed to install when I looked at the update history. Could this be why I keep recieving internet script errors when im not even visiting any web pages?
And also since it didnt install it properly if at all, how can I install internet explorer 8 for windows vista? Is there a way to still install it on windows update?

I am having some trouble setting up Live Writer 2009 to work with my Blogger account. Upon entering my the web address for my Blogger account (http://<MyName>/blogspot.com), and entering my username and password, as on my Blogger site itself, it consistently provides me with an error:

"The blog account could not be accessed with the specified username and password"

Now I made sure about the details, without success. Any advice?

Live Writer Source Code & Tab Problems

(yes this is a long post, so what, I'm stating my case and being very thorough about this which should make people happy)

Here it goes.

Even though really Live Writer is the best tool out there for blog posting, I am very frustrated with Live Writer and the shortcomings from the Live Writer team in terms of standards (HTML) and just plain usability issues in the different tabs.

First off who can I complain to, is there hopefully for good usability practices a feedback form where customers can comment to the team on usability issues?

Here are the pains with the latest live writer:

1) I added an html table and a couple of styles in the source code editor/tab. I previewed, it looked fine, it properly picked up styles (at least in the live writer preview) I had added at the top of the page inline. I went back to the Edit tab and then back again to the preview and then to the source control tab and 2 things happened:

a) Now the preview looks different, my styles that were working don't
b) Now my source control table is all jacked up in terms of the tabs and spacing I had put in to make the html readable. It's all messed up.

2) So I close live writer, open it back up and open up that post again. Now the source code tab is even worse...it stripped all the spacing I had period. The HTML is one jumbled mess..meaning all in one damn paragraph! How is one supposed to edit HTML when this stuff is stripped like this in Live Writer!

3) I posted the article. I noticed that any styles I had specified were also gone. Example, I had this in the source code tab before posting:

Well, it's not in the source of the page when rendered live. It's gone.

Also, I was never able to quite get the styles working that I had defined at the top of my source. The first time I added that table and styles it looked great in preview. Now for some reason, the same exact code, nothing has changed but live writer refuses to format it the right way in preview like it lost the ability to read styles!

this is just a nightmare. The editor is horrible in terms of custom coding stuff and preview tab not being consistent and keeping the formattting you put in there such as tabs, spacing, etc.! It also adds junk like <blocktext> <p></p> what the ____ is that? that's such trash!

seriously, I would hope that the Live Writer team has a feedback mechanism and takes feedback from their customers seriously instead of driving what looks to me like a developer driven tool at this point. These are obvious major usability shortfalls here and if they care about the success of Live Writer in terms of being able to really customize a post and edit basic HTML in it, this is very behind. Because someone can EASILY create a WPF tool to do this and wipe out this tool in the future..hey maybe it's a good thing for me to work on? What I'm saying here is there are a lot of major problems with this tool that the team needs to address instead of trying to go the route of adding so many features to it. Get it working well first, meaning have it be very flexible, consistent, and reliable in those 3 tabs when you create a post and get that working flawlessly. That has yet to be done. I use Subtext and it sure would be nice if my issues above were seriously addressed or even able to be sent to the Live Writer team. So if anyone knows how to contact them with feedback, please let me know.

Right now I'm using Subtext for a major e-commerce site's blog. So this is serious to me and my users who use Live Writer as the tool tool to post to our blog. If I can't myself as a developer go into the source control tab and not have the problems I'm having and also with the preview (even though it's using our skin..the preview hops around and morphs every damn time you switch the tab reguardless) then what's the point of using live Writer?

If my concerns can't be addressed and I know I"m not the only one having these issues, why doesn't MS open source Live Writer! now there's an excellent idea so we can fix this ____. If MS can't take usability and feedback and web standards into their products such as Live Writer, the best next thing is to fire the team doing live writer and just open source it! (I know I am being an ____, just frustrated here about usability and standards..I'm not the only one, just one out of 100s of thousands who are sick of this from MS). h ell, I'll contribute and fix these shortcomings once and for all!

I notice a lot (about 20) of sqmnooptXX.SQM files on my C: drive (top level directory). what are these files, what is their purpose and how do I get rid of them safely on my machine. they started showing up after I loaded outlook connector and updated to the latest windows livemail client. thanks in advance, mark

Live Writer worked fine for me for months. But since updating Wordpress to version 2.8.4 (and today to 2.8.6) the upload doesn not work and I get an error message 500 Internal Server Error. Since I have no idea what may be wrong with wordpress it might be Live Writer or its configuration which is causing the trouble. Any hints? Who had the same problems?

MP4 Codec in Live Movie Maker on Windows 7 Ultimate

I'm so happy Windows 7 has native support for MP4, as my new camera produces only that format!
But installing Nokia, BlackBerry and Sony software seems to bring another MP4 codec on the PC.

Windows Media Player still chooses the right codec (THANK YOU Micrsoft for arranging this).
But the Live Movie Maker now uses the wrong codec to import video. :-(
I've found a lot of new MP4 related registry keys in the Registry, but unsure what to do with them...

??Anyone please tell me how to restore the Microsoft MP4 codec as the preferred one for Live Movie Maker in a technically correct way???

above is the code which i am using to create the business unit , it is woking fine and i am assigning the proper roles and i check the user it is having correct business unit and proper roles.

i have a requirment of moving changing the business unit from one user to other, even that is working fine with proper roles

but when i see the contact and account both the users with different business unit can see the data(account and contact's)

Windows Media Player Not Opening

Is anyone having this problem....my windows media player is not opening, I click on the shortcut and nothing, my cursor acts like it wants to open it but then it stops and nothing, I clicked on the launch icon for the media player and it says that I already have the latest WMP and that closes, I am runing windows vista 64bit, if anyone has any answers please let me know.

I have updated my live writer to the new version and I have a problem publishing post with photo, when I try to do it i receive an error: "error 500 impossible to upload files" this error appear only with post with photo, publishing post without photo don’t cause any kind of error. some one know how to fix this problem?
