Concerning local backups and discontinuation of Windows Live OneCare...

viernes, 12 de marzo de 2010 5:24Greetings,
I've been using Windows Live OneCare for over a year now and I really like it. Currently I'm using Windows Live OneCare to perform local backups of 3 PCs (2 running Vista and 1 running XP). The backups are going the the Windows XP box that has mirrored 500GB drives where the backups are being stored. When Windows Live OneCare expires:
1) Can I continue to use it to do my local backups?
2) Can I download the new anti-virus software and continue to use Windows Live OneCare to do local backups?
3) Will Windows Live OneCare continue to perform system cleanings and defragmentation of my HDDs?
Thanks in advance!

1)When your subscription expires backup will no longer be functional. You should download and save the One Care restore tool should you need to restore One Care backups in the future - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecarebackupandrestore/thread/e5d686c8-762b-4b22-bc08-bfb93f911e57
2)You cannot install another antivirus program without first uninstalling One Care.
3) See #2.
