Restore from One Care Back Up

Hello. In 2006 I purchased a new PC and installed One Care as my primary security and backup application. A couple of years later my PC had a fit and I salvaged my HDD added to this my Back Ups were loaded onto an external drive. I have not re-subscribed to One Care and have only now decided to attempt to access data from the back-up. Naturally I can't access as the security settings appear to be unique to the original bios or mother board and without the original or a new subscription to One Care I feel accessing the data may be impossible even though I have a fully licenced edition on Windows 7 on my new lap top. Is there anybody out there that has a solution preferably based on experience. If so I would love to hear from you.

You can use the One Care restore tool to access your old One Care backups - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecarebackupandrestore/thread/e5d686c8-762b-4b22-bc08-bfb93f911e57
