ActiveSync 4.5 will sync Outlook XP Calendar but not Contacts
I am using WIN XP3 and Outlook XP on my computer. I have a Motorola Q9h global with WM 6.1 and ActiveSync4.5. About a month ago the phone and computer would sync both contacts anf calendar but when attempting a sync last week only calendar would sync and then it just sat there with the green arrows going around until I unplugged the phone. I have reinstalled ActiveSync on the computer, deleted the device and deleted the windows pc on the phone. I have used the repair feature in Outlook help and serched the net. I submitted a request with the info here to Motorola but keep getting a generic reply back. I have noticed that on the phone in active sync -windows pc-options the boxes you can check to sync the contacts, favorites, files, media and appointments are grayed out and you can't check them. the only boxes available to check arecalendar, email and tasks. This is my wifes phone and now she has no contact info and is driving me nuts, please help.
Thanks,
tbsrrs

When the device is connected to the PC, if you open Activesync and look at the options for syncing, are they available to mark the checkbox?

- Hi Jack
I'm having a similar problem. At work, I'm running Windows XP, SP2, MS Outlook 2003 SP3, MS Active Sync 4.5, and I'm trying to synchronize Calendar and Contacts with my iPAQ 1940. In the Sync Options in Activesync, the options to synchronize Appointments, Contacts, Notes and Task are all greyed out. The only options I get are Favorites, Inbox and Files.
I have the exact same system at home and am able to synchronize everything, including Calendar and Contacts. Could you give me an indication of what could be missing on my work computer?
please let me know if you need any other details.
Many many thanks
Elaine

I am assuming you are seeing them greyed out on your device ... yes? Are they greyed out on your PC?

- Hi,
Run this command on your computer:
regsvr32.exe %windir%\system32\ole32.dll
Linley
Pocket PC Mauritius http://PocketpcMauritius.blogspot.com/ http://PPCMUDownloads.blogspot.com/ - And make sure that you close any Office application. Running that command will will correctly register the ole32.dll file in the registry
