- The support lifecycle for Windows XP goes through August 2014, so you have some time. Keep in mind that once you earn the MCSE, you don't have to "re-up" to keep the designation. However, you'll still want to think about keeping up with Microsoft's latest and greatest through certifications.
Note that you'll also need to take either 70-297 or 70-298 (a "design" elective) and one additional elective beyond that.

so does that mean that i got until 2014 to complete MCSE 2003? note i haven't done any cores or any international exams as yet.
I plan on completing my MCSE 2003 reason being i studied that there after write an upgrade exam to be an MCITP. Can this be done and is it advisable?
My main concern is that i don't want the exams for MCSE 2003 to retire so i need to know for sure if i can still do that in the next year or 2 because i know server 2003 is getting out dated. Mainstream support for most XP versions have already ended and extended support will continue till 2014 as Charles mentioned but I don’t think XP exams will be valid till 2014. In many cases, Microsoft retired exams right after mainstream support. There is no set date for this to end but I wouldn’t be relaxed by thinking these exams will be valid till 2014.

Take a close look at the exams which Microsotf retited March 31st this year. Extended Support of many of these products still avialble.

2014 is a long time 4rom now...but will i still be able to right all those exams in the next year atleast without any of them retiring???
- Let's hope for the best and I believe this exam will still remain valid till end of next year, but If I were you, I would be checking every other month for any types of heads up. Microsoft will give us enough notice. :-)
Rubel Khan - Thanks a million for the help...

Rubel Khan- Thanks for the inspiration Rubel...
Think 7 papers would be easy to to in 7 months?
lol
i know it's a dumb question, just don't wanna be left on the 6th exam and then it get's discountinued. - Its hard to say if it would be easy or not because we do not know everything about your situation.
If you have been working with 2003 for years and Active Directory environments and other aspects of 2003 it would be easier than if you have just started working with it.
That being said, the exams are not meant to be easy and it would be a challenge even for a more veteran 2003 user. However, depending on the amount of knowledge and experience you have it could be done. There is no way to say for sure.
Regardless, it will be a task no matter what.
Eric - hi Jake1988 ,
Microsoft recommends that if you are currently using Windows 2003 and will be using 2003 for quite a while then you should pursue and complete your 2003 certification. The MCSE 2003 exams will probably be available for years and none are scheduled for retirement yet.
