Presence information incorrect in outlook

We have some users that are operating in exchange 2007 sp1. Presence information for contacts are updated correctly the first time outlook launches however if a user's presence changes, presence information is not updated in outlook correctly - This is mostly for users not in your communicator contact list. We see it happen in cached mode and in online mode. Is there a setting where we can determine the polling time of presence by the clieint? Thanks.
