I recently re-installed Windows XP and was instructed to activate windows. I entered the product key on the sticker on the tower but it tells me that it is incorrect. I ran 'Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool' which gave me the following:

I checked the product key which was all correct but it stills informs me that the product key is wrong. I brought the computer directly from Dell and I know that the computer has a genuine version of Windows XP. Please I need help to fix this problem.

mardi 19 mai 2009 00:38It seems the problem is with you RE-INSTALLING the system. The key you use is correct but it has been used already to activate your system the first time. There must be a by-phone option in activation procedure, use it. Or just call Microsoft support. Tell them you are re-installing original system on the same computer, and everything should be OK.
And it's my duty to point out that this forum is dedicated to Windows Curriculum Resource Kit.
Thanks,
