We are trying to develop an outbound dialer using Speech Server 2007. We already have an inbound application (VXML) on this same server and for this application we are limited to using the same Speech Server 2007 install (not OCS). It is looking like
the application will be in Workflow (unless there is a better way of doing this in SALT). The outbound app will be trying to reach a live body from a list of contacts (leaving messages for those not available) until it gets someone live. If it gets an
answering machine it will have to wait for the tone before leaving a message (to avoid message truncation). Is there any way of detecting the end of an answering machine message and waiting for the tone? I have done quite a bit of searching and so far
the only solution I can find for answering machines is using the DetectAnsweringMachine activity in conjunction with a very ugly grammar (very specific phrases for each option--how about multiple languages?) in order to try to determine whether an answering
machine answered. Is there a better way? Also if this is the only way, when does the DetectAnsweringMachine activity return control to the application?
