    Hi,

When doing an install, is there any reason not to have SQL Server installed on the same server as Project Server?

I generally feel this setup seems to perform well?

Just wondering what the general opinion is here.

    Hi,

Performance is the main reason for not installing Project Server and SQL server on the same box. If you have high performing components like CPU, RAM, Disk you can use single server installation.

Just for learning purpose you can install standalone server type which eventually installs SQL server express edition and all services; configuration will utilize network service or local system account

Agree with Hrishi here, perf is the main issue, and you may very well get away with SQL on the same server for a deployment that is used by < 10 people.  However, I would never recommend do the install with SQL express, you cut yourself off from all the SQL tools and add-ins.
