    Hello,

I am able to create Web Application and added top level Site to it. The configuration process gives me the message that it was successfully created.

However, when I type the url, I can not see the site. "Internet explorer can not display the webpage."

Any ideas why the site can not be displayed?

    Thanks.

    Hello RJ Squirrel.

It could be many things.  How did you create the site collections.  Did you use code or SharePoint Central?

Are you using any special DNS names?

Is your account named as the administrator account?

What version of IE are you running?

    Are the sites trusted?

    cheers

    Hi Michael,

I used SharePoint Central Administration to create the site collection. No special DNS names and installing as a farm admin account. The site is added to the trusted sites.

Are there any services that need to be running for this?

    Thanks!

Did you try loggin on with the Farm Admin account assuming that you used the Farm Admin account to create the site? It should be the only account that has permissions to read the site until you set at least read permission for the new site collection.
