  • Internet Explorer, and it's not hidden! :/

This is driving me crazy!! I understand a little or nothing about it. And don't know what more to do. I just recovered 2 times today, because probably make some errors!

Thank u guys for tring help me.

    יום ראשון 21 אוקטובר 2012 20:39
  • There should be no need to recover at all.

what EXACTLY are you attempting to download? - from which link?

Why can't you read or access what's in the address bar?

Try copying the address to Notepad, editing it there, and then copying it back to the address bar.

  • I recovered because I made some big mistake and my computer start with a blue screen, and then was restarting by itself.

I can't tell you why, but everytime i try to make these updates, they just failed:

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2647753)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2661254)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2719857)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2729094)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2731771)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732059)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732487)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732500)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2741355)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2749655)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2756822)

So, after a long time of search I just found I can update them manually at microsoft page:

    www. microsoft.com/en-us/download

And now I can't finish the download, first because have a problem with the validation page, and after tried the sticky at the top of the forum, now I can't see the Internet Explorer Information bar about the activeX.

The adress bar it's okay. I can't visualise the bar below, that one they show at the picture, where I should click to install the activeX Control.

Thank you for your help, and your patience!

  • Great! glad to hear it..

Thanks for the  link - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie8-windows_other/cant-find-internet-explorer-info-bar-to-install/0ceb1459-c561-49a4-bf1b-ec6e7841ae97

Ah - it was the Info bar you were missing, rather than the Address bar :) That explains the problem.

  • I recently had this problem when I updated my Firefox; even thou I knew my default browser was IE; the new version of Firefox set my UserAgent as Firefox; so when I’m using IE and I visit an MS site for instance it thinks I’m using Firefox since it see that as my UserAgent.

You don't have a default browser set and your useragent is set to FireFox - both must be set to IE.

User Agent and Default Browser have to be the same under the Browser Data section after you run the MSDiag.exe (Search - I'm a new user and unable to post links)

How to Change bowser UserAgent (Search - I'm a new user and unable to post links )

List of Bowser UserAgent String (make sure you select the right one for OS and IE version) (Search - I'm a new user and unable to post links )

If the UserAgent is listed as Firefox you must go into Firefox and change it to IE

  • That's not the problem at all, currently - it's simply that the Download Center servers are serving the wrong links.

I am attempting to get some action from MS on this. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

    Pleease read this sticky http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/aeb8d52c-e996-479a-8cb0-5db8ad67d875

  • First of all I posted what worked for me.  It it was an issue of being sent to the wrong URL; every machine would have this problem and that NOT the case.  I have tested this on two different PCs; one it work the the other it did not; only difference was the UserAgent; I change the UserAgent and it works fine.

You have only provided an band-aid or workaround; cause once the user gets the WGA pop-up again the issue will resurface.

    יום חמישי 25 אוקטובר 2012 12:29
  • The problem here is that that you are not seeing the same issue as the other posters.

I had the same problem for over a month - whereby I could access the proper links using IE9 in Win7 or IE8 in XP.

The links are no lenger working without manual adjustment - with no changes to my system that I'm aware of, and with the proper User Agent String.

The problem lies with the server at MS - I am attampting to get some action within MS on this matter, but they claim not to be able to repro it currently.
