    שאלה

  • Just received of what is supposed to be a a full retail genuine copy of Windows 7 pro form an on-line reseller. The DVD's look rather different, all in blue, but no sticker, all other Holographic features checks out fine

The installation runs smoothly and activates with no problems.. But I am rather worried.. Of course, I could be overreacting.. Anyhow, I'm posting the report generated by MGADiag for you kind advise ..

I removed some parts of product key and all links as well

  • The disks look genuine to me - with the following provisos...

They do appear to be promo disks, rather than full product ones

They are NOT part of the original 'free upgrade' offer which Carey refers to -which was only an OEM disk, and which was only availably in 2009 (your disks include Service Pack 1, and must therefore have been produced in late 2010/early 2011)

Perhaps a call to your loal activation center would be a good idea - see if they can tell you what type of product the Key belongs to. - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950929

  • I can see no obvious failure in the report - but you are right to be worried.

What is the source of your purchase? - it's often the best guide as to the legitimacy of the product.

The pirates have got VERY good at this over the past few years, as the price of equipment for manufacturing the packages drops, and as factories open in less well-policed countries.

Now I'm more than worried. What do you suggest?, putting in mind that everything seems to be OK, so far

Should I just assume it is a counterfeit and report it to MS?

  • ANy chance you can take a photo of the DVD/s and upload it to a fileshare site (SkyDrive will do) and post a link?

I don't know of any disks that look like what you're describing - but I haven't seen many.

Seems to me it looks more like the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade version found at "How to tell", but this one is Windows 7 Retail, and in blue.

    Hope this helps..

    Bikesh

Did you bother to read any of the thread?

The OP is concerned about provenance (with good reason, so far as I can tell) rather than the current pass/fail on validation.

Without good provenance, there is always the risk of a later fail on validation.

Are you prepared to state categorically  that the current status is 'good' - and that it will continue to be so??

Did you receive a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) with the discs?  It appears your  blue Windows 7 Professional DVD disc was originally intended as a promotion for some users who purchased Windows Vista a few months before Windows 7 became available.  They look authentic, but only a Microsoft forensic software expert could say for sure.

    Carey Frisch

It came boxed with COA, Made in Puerto Rico, I can see this even on the disk Hologram. SP1 is included as mentioned on disk and packaging itself  (which is rather odd if that was intended as promotion for windows vista users as that means Windows 7 was just been released!).. The COA also reads SKU-FQC-00129. The product key looks very legitimate to me, with a strip and everything..

Can not you tell from the above report whether it is actually a Promotion or not?

I also can forward you the link of the item.

    Awaiting your kind advise,

    Thank you.

CS doesn't respond in at all the same way as an Activation rep would do.

  • Disks were indeed produced on 2011, as clearly indicated on them, they seem to install full version of windows 7 though..

Can someone please post me Activation Center contact info, it seems I'm going on wild link chase and end up time and again to the same link Noel posted earlier. I'm located in Saudi Arabia, but I guess a US center contact info would be ok.

Meanwhile, I'll try to chat with Premium Disk Support and I'll see if they can help.

    Really appreciate your support..

    Thank you all.
