Where can I purchase virtual machines for Course 2273B to do the labs and practices in the course.
    These files are as follows:

    2274C-DEN-CL1.VMC

    2274C-DEN-DC1.VHD

I don't know about purchasing them, but you can browse the VHDs that Microsoft has listed here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?pocId=&freetext=VHD&DisplayLang=en

The download center VHDs that Michael has referred to here are going to probably be your best alternative resource set.  Unfortunately, the VHDs and associated components of the MOC are reserved for use as part of the official curriculum.  You can gain access to these VHDs either by taking the course itself or by being a Microsoft Certified Trainer.

The other thing to keep in mind here is that there are other resources availible.  You are lookign at the Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 environment course which also roughly maps to the 70-290 exam of the same name.  I have written an exam guide for this particular exam availible at http://blog.avanadeadvisor.com/blogs/waynea/archive/2007/09/03/4890.aspx .

In there, I include a short list of TechNet based virtual labs which you may find of use to fill the same role.  These labs offer you the ability to work on a VM with the product for 2 hours at a time.

MS TechNet - TechNet Virtual Lab on 2003 AD Functionality
MS TechNet - TechNet Virtual Lab on Group Policy Management Console in Server 2003
MS TechNet - TechNet Virtual Lab on IIS 6.0 in Server 2003

    Hopefully you find these useful.

     Wayne,
Thanks for your reply. I'll probably use the resources you mentioned in your reply, but how do I take or sign up for the course itself to obtain these files?

    Regards,

    -Mike

Even taking the course itself directly from a CPLS you probably cant get your hands on the files themselves, unfortunately.  There are rules attendant to the MCT program which govern redistribution of any of the official curriculum material.  In some cases, such if you work at a CPLS or certain companies with redistribution agreements, they might make the files availible internally.  It seems that this is not the case for you.

What are you trying to study specifically?  Or use these files for?  Maybe I can help find better resources which you will have access to?

I'm studying for the  70-290 Exam. I finished taking the 2273B course last week. Unfortunitly, the instructor was out sick the first day so the course was presented in just 4 days vs 5 days.  Therefore we didn't get a chance to do alot of the practice labs because of this. I wanted to get the vhd and vmc files so I could do the labs at home as I study for the course material.

Do MOC kits not come with evaluation discs anymore. If so, you can use Virtual PC 2007 for free and install the eval disc of Windows Server 2003.

    Some do, some dont.

In almost any of these cases, however, they disks are just the base install, they dont come with a fully constructed Active Directory infrastructure, neccessary scripts, some pre-built directories and entities to work with, etc.

It sounds like that is more what is being sought here for some reason.

I know in exchange there are some powershell scripts out there which will go through and build a demo environment for you.  Maybe take the same route and see if there is a powershell-for-2003 script which builds a basic Active Directory environment to get some practice in?

    Great point Wayne.

Mike, any chance of taking your case to the CPLS and asking for a retake of the course? Having worked for one for some years, this is not an uncommon practice. You did, after all, invest time and money in sitting the class. It is worth a shot!
