cannot login with live mesh client

I can log into the web site without issue, but when I try to run the client I get
"To sign in you must be connected to the internet"
then talks about offline sign in.
This is running on windows 7 and I am behind a company firewall
I assume the issue is that the live mesh client requires a port open that I cannot use, but any help would be appreciated.
I have had no problems with dropbox, sugarsync etc.
firefox and chrome sync work without issue.

Are you referring to Live Meshe Beta? If so, this service ends at the end of March. You need to uninstall it.
The Windows Live Mesh sign-in uses the proxy settings of IE to navigate to the Internet. Sign in would be via https.
If you are referring to Windows Live Mesh, not Live Mesh - www.mesh.com, you are in the wrong forum. Yes, the naming convention is confusing, though I like that they kept the Mesh name alive for the upgrade to Live Sync (formerly FolderShare).
For discussion of the new Windows Live Mesh (formerly Sync), (as well as the released Live Sync version) go here:

Thanks Stephen.
I found a useful document on that link.
Shame that the names are pretty much the same

Well, I do like the name "Live Mesh" so am glad to see it live on, but while both forums and services are active, it does create some confusion. Glad that the link was helpful.
