  I need a simple fix to this Vista error please.

  I've tried to back up to my external hard drive and always get the same message:

  The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (80070020)

  I've turned off my antivirus.  I've tried rebooting. I've downloaded MS Fixit Centre.  Nothing helps.  I've wasted hours of my life I'll never get back.
