    Details on the December Release:

    Implementation of Ads
Forums users will only see ads on MSDN and TechNet brands on Forum and Thread pages. They will only see ads if they are not logged in, meaning day to day users and high volume contributors will not be seeing them. The addition of ads to the platform is part of a larger initiative, of which forums and search are a part.

    Notification Retry Logic
There has been a long history of users not receiving Alerts when subscribing to threads. The team has been working on this problem for a while and the December release includes some major changes to the back end to address many of the Alerts delivery problems. Further work is happening, but this is the first step towards addressing these issues.

Fixes to My Threads and Recognition Points Latency
This is related to some of the notification issues, since they depend on some of the same back end pieces. Users continually report of threads not showing up in their "My Threads" list and recognition points not being accumulated in a timely manner. The recent changes to the notification tier should address many of these issues.

    NNTP Bridge Beta Update
The NNTP Client Bridge allows users to interact and participate in forums from their NNTP Clients. This project has been in Beta for months and the December release includes an update to the client. More information about the bridge can be found on the Online Forums connection on Microsoft Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com/site927

    Tag Cloud BlackList tooling
We have made some enhancements to some of the back end tooling to ensure inappropriate tags recent spammers have added can be cleaned up and not allowed going forward. We have disabled the tag clouds until we have cleaned up the spam tags and ensure the tag cloud are restored to a point of being useful again to users.
