Project Professional could not connect to server because dependent SOAP toolkit component is not installed correctly...

...Please reinstall the Office SOAP toolkit component using office installation and try again."
A user receives this message after trying to open a Project Plan from the Server. The opening-dialog freezes, then MS Project crashes.
Environment:
MS Project Server 2010 (formerly upgrade from Project Server 2007, Backward Compatiblity Mode is OFF)
MS Project Professional 2010
MS Office Professional 2007
MS Project Professional 2007 has been uninstalled prior installation of MS Project Professional 2010.
Tried the following without success:
* Repair-Installation of MS Project 2010
* Repair Installation of MS Office Professional 2007
* Uninstall / Install of MS Project 2010
Nothing worked.
Can anybody help me please?
Thank you!
Best regards,
Gerald Tauchner

Is this happening when they open Pro first and open the project from inside pro or when they go to PWA and try to open it from there?
What happens if they try the opposite action? same result?
If one user, what happens if a different user logs into that machine and tries to do this? Same error? (testing to see if it is the machine or if it might be a windows user profile issue.)
Is it ALL users or just one user? (testing to see if it is a config issue on one machine or if it is an issue common to your company standard configuration.)

Hi!
Thank you for your response!
Here my answers:
* It happens if you open a project AND when saving a project. It does not matter which project or from where opened whether from the File/Open Dialog or from PWA. So sometimes the opening of a project works, but if I or the user change something and save the project, MS Project also crashes.
* I logged on to the user's computer with my account and had exactly the same problems. So I would think it's a machine dependent error.
* It's just this ONE user for now, some other reported crashes too but so far I could find out they do not face the same issue. We have 100+ users currently working with the same environment.

try uninstalling both office and Project and then installing Office 2007 and then installing Project 2010 and then Office 2007.

Hi!
Unfortunately there was no specific solution to this matter.
However, in our case the user issued a complete Windows rollout - a complete new installation of his computer. This is not very efficient, but actually it helped, everything works fine since that.
If you have a mixed environment I would still give it a try and uninstall all Office products (2007 and 2010) and then install again first 2007 then 2010. But this is only speculation, since our user took it a step further.
I am sorry, I cannot help you more.
Kind regards,
Gerald

Gerald Thanks for your quick response...and I don't think this can be considered in my company.
It should have some fix any comments from moderators ???
