Can I configure PS2010 to not allow a resource to be assigned to a project task if that resource is already assigned elsewhere infor another project  that same period of time? This is to answer repeated questions I get from potential clients in relation to the solution performing the role of "resource manager" instead of a human in smaller organisations.

    thanks in advance.

The answer to your question is no; you cannot prevent PMs from assigning resources to tasks if the resource is already assigned to tasks during the same time period in other projects.  Hope this helps.

thanks Dale, I thought so but just wanted to be sure.   I will therefore continue to bang the "you need a process" drum rather than expect a solution that makes decisions automatically.

    cheers

Yup, bang that drum, my friend!  This is one of many issues with Project Server 2010 that are best addressed with a standardized methodology or process.  And you are more than welcome for the help, my friend!  :)
