Locked Duplicate Site Listing

    Hi.

Our website at www.americangoldinvesting.com has two separate listings when searching on "american gold investing".  They show up as:

    americangoldinvesting.com

    and...

    www.americangoldinvesting.com/index.htm

I am not sure of the cause of this but I think it may have also caused our site to drop completely out of the results for other key words and phrases as well.

Have I done something to cause this / anything I can do to correct this?

    Thanks in advance.

As of today, our site no longer appears at all, even when searching on the site name - "american gold investing".  What gives?  I do NOT engage in any black hat seo techniques at all, for any reason, ever.

    Hi Golden Boy,

Your site isn't banned. I show that we have 10 pages indexed:http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=site:americangoldinvesting.com&src=IE-SearchBox. I did notice that your site wasn't canonicalized, which may be causing some duplicate content issues though. If you don't know how to do this, I recomend taking a look at our blog post: http://blogs.msdn.com/webmaster/archive/2009/01/19/optimizing-your-very-large-site-for-search-part-1.aspx which will get you started in the right direction.

Thanks very much for the response, Brett!

I think I may have read about this some time ago but completely forgot about it when creating this site last year.  This sounds like it may solve my problem.  Guess I'll get started and see.

    Thanks again,
