I've always found it painful that when I have a mobile device connected to my PC via ActiveSync, I cannot:
Access the device's file system via command line
Save links in a browser on my desktop directly onto the device
Select files for upload when clicking the Browse button for File type input field in a browser on my desktop
Save a file from a program running onto my desktop directly to the mobile device
Open a file from my mobile device directly from within a program running on my desktop
Instead, you have to copy things to and from your PC and Mobile Device to perform these tasks, resulting in duplicate files and a lot of extra time.
It seems like ActiveSync (or at least something in PowerToys) should be able to make these tasks easier by turning the mobile device into an ordinary drive.

There are tools available to do that: http://www.modernnomads.info/wiki/index.php?page=Using+your+Windows+Mobile+device+as+a+memory+stick
