    Hey all!

    OCS 2007 is in our production environment.  On a couple test VM's we brought up R2 to test some compatibility with the Cisco 2811 GW.  We had a the R2 and the Mediation server running.  I moved a few users over, tested calling semi-successfully.  Reading around it looked like the issues we had were compatibility between R2 and the 2811 (ring back issues). 

    So, no problem.  We figured they might not play well together.  But by all accounts, OCS 2007 R1 shouldn't have the same issue.  So I stood up a 32bit VM and went to install the OCS 2007 R1 Mediation server.  When prompted to either create an account or use an existing we got a failure.

    "The password or the account are wrong.  Please try again"

    This happens when we attempt to use the RTCComponentService account.  We can create a new account but the Mediation Server Activation comes back with failures after it runs.  I'm pretty sure the two issues are related.

    Also: Yes, this is on our production network and we have run the R2 preps on our environment. 

    Any ideas would be helpful.

      Hi Jimmy-

      If I had to guess I would say that you now have 2 mediation services in CN=RTC Service==>CN=TrustedServices container in AD.

      <see attached screenshot>

      You can use adsiedit to manually drill down and try to find them, but I would get and hold of ADExplorer, which has a search option.

      When the activation wizard fails does it throw an error talking about multiple services?

      I have also seen this behavior when someone has collocated another role on the same box as the Med. server.

        I haven't seen anything that suggests multiple services.  And hey, I thought you would have multiple mediation servers anyway.  All they are doing is handling traffic from the IP's we specify anyway right?

            Please provide the verbatim error message when you attempt activation after creating a new account.

              Do you have any firewall between frontend and mediation server?
