Answered Issues with Summary in Report Wizard - MSCRM 4.0

I have been using the Report Wizard in CRM 4.0, and as much as I like it, I am getting frustrated!  When you add a column to be shown on the report, one of the options in the "change properties" window for that column is "summary". I choose "SUM" as my option, as I want a summary of the total dollar amount of that grouping.

Unfortunately, this only seems to work on canned fields, and not custom fields I have created on the form.  Am I doing something wrong?

are your custom fields the correct type of attributes?  look at their setup if you can

The custom field is a "money" type, just like the canned field, estimatedvalue.

attributes from same primary report entity or related one?

(I promise I am not trying to sound insulting, this is my mental checklist when I have report issues)

    • Do I have data to report on?  (if I am looking for a sum/average of some set of numbers, does that set of numbers have data values to total?)
    • Am I selecting the right data to report on?  (right data, right entity?)
    • Do I have the permissions needed to access the data that I want?
    • Am I picking the right trigger for my data?  (if I am looking at a date range, do I have the correct range?  the correct date item?)
    • Is there a similar canned/system report that I could customize and compare my report to, and find my problem?

(If you would like, we could do a quick gotomeeting and troubleshoot)

Thank you so much for this!  I hate to admit it, but alas, I may not be playing with a full deck of cards this week.

Your first suggestion was the light bulb I needed.  I checked my entire report, and lo and behold, there was the data I was looking for!

Thanks again for your help.  Let me know if you freelance your CRM skills!
