Outlook 2010 experience a serious problem with CRM 2011 add-in
-
28 Maret 2012 13:38All of a sudden I started having issues with my Outlook 2010 and CRM 2011 on Windows 7 64 bit, when I open a new email and when I close it or after the reply and send outlook just hangs, only happens with a new email older emails open and close just find. In my event log I will get three distinct errors and I have tired repairing office, repairing the CRM plugin, re-installing the CRM plugin and installing roll up 7, disabling the antivirus, creating sub folders inside my inbox to clear out my inbox where I currently have 140 emails any ideas what else can I do or how to start troubleshooting the problem? Any help will be appreciated.
This are the errors:

You could turn on dev errors for addins in outlook. File - Options - Advanced - Developer Section.
Then restart Outlook. If you´re getting an error message you can follow up, what causes this issue.

Carsten,
Thank you for your quick reply and for the tip, I turned on the addins in outlook but nothing happens, when opening a new email or creating one the system hangs and when I close or click send I then have to use task manager to end the outlook task and before outlook restarts the following question will pop up:
Outlook experienced a serious problem with the ‘microsoft dynamics crm’ add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?
If I click yes the CRM plugin will be disabled and everything will work fine but as soon as I enable it the problem returns. I have also gone to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Diagnostic and deleted the temporary files but the problem is not going away. The only thing I have not tried is to remove and re-install Outlook or office but I have a bad feeling I am going to spend a lot of time doing it and it is not going to help. Does the adding in outlook create a log or is it supposed to pop up with information when it experiences a problem?
Thanks,

Yesterday I was so frustrated that I left the outlook locked up and this morning I saw a new clue: "Could not connect to Microsoft Outlook: error -2147417856. Please see our help center for more information". I also saw several informational and warning messages that I am not sure if they are related, I sill had to end the task to close outlook:

Nothing? I am beginning to regret switch from Goldmine to CRM...I know the easiest solution is to simply re-install the PC but that is going to take me to long, I would like an idea, something that I can use to get started working on this problem, anybody out there can suggest another forum to try? Maybe something outside Microsoft?

04 April 2012 9:49I'm having exactly the same problem. It started just over a week ago. Has anyone got any ideas on this?

12 April 2012 11:34I've just tried uninstalling the Dynamics for Outlook software and reinstalled it again. It resolved the issue and now Outlook is running much faster too.

12 April 2012 22:42I tried that too but no luck, it was working just fine and then it went bad on me, everybody else in the office is not having any problems it is only me. I may have to bite the bullet and re-install my PC or at least start by deleting my profile and creating a new one...I don't want to, it is going to take me a lot of time to get the machine back to where I have it right now.

13 April 2012 15:12What other add-ins are you using? You may have a conflict. I'd try disabling all of your other add-ins to see if that resolves it. If it does, start enabling 1 by 1 to see which one causes the conflict

I am going to try that because I do have several; avast antyspam, business connectivity services, COM addin for Microsoft outlook Hotmail connector, icloud outlook, Microsoft exchange, Microsoft social connector, sharepoint server and workspace proxy, notes and change notifier....and you may be right because my live messenger has also been acting up and doing weird things and I see the Microsoft social connector there, I will keep you posted.

Has there been an update to this? I am experiencing a very similar problem at a client where outlook hangs indefinitely when sending or replying to emails.
Thanks

Hi everyone, just got off the phone with a microsoft support engineer and he said that the avast antispam add-in is a known problem and interferes with the crm add-in.
Just to describe the problem a bit more:
- there are 4 client pc's
- 3 had office 2010 32 bit on Win 7 64 bit
- 1 had office 2007 32 bit on Win 7 64 bit
- All pc's had 4GB RAM with i-7
- All pc's had avast! pro installed with avast! anti-spam add-in
- PC with 2007 installed working fine but 2010 pc's would hang on replying to emails and opening up new email
The fix was to disable the add-in under File -> Options -> Add-ins -> Go.
Hope that solves your problem

Thanks for the info, I will try it as soon as we get CRM back up and running, one of our engineers was playing with Free NAS and managed to corrupt the Active Directory and take our entire network down, he is now in the process of getting everything back up and running, in the mean time we are back to the old trusted and tired Goldmine.
Thanks,
