Dynamics CRM 2011 IFD install problems
-
31 Agustus 2011 9:01Hello there,
Trying to install Dynamics CRM 2011 with IFD, everything on one box.
We get to the point in the various install videos and blogs where we have installed Dynamics, ADFS is installed, the STS is setup, as are the claims.
Everything has gone by the book until we get to selecting browse on our organisation whick takes us off to:https://dynamics.threecherries.co.uk:444/tclcrm/
Then it all goes pear shaped with errors like those that now also come up when we try to go tohttps://server2008:444/
Where we are now:
http://server2008:5555/ still takes us to the unsecure dynamics install
https://dynamics.threecherries.co.uk:444/FederationMetadata/2007-06/FederationMetadata.xml Works ok:
https://server2008:444/ This did work at an earlier stage of the installation process but nows thinks about it for a while and then redirects off to here:
https://adfs.threecherries.co.uk/adfs/ls/?wa=wsignin1.0&wtrealm=https%3a%2f%2fdynamics.threecherries.co.uk%3a444%2f&wctx=rm%3d1%26id%3d4f429dd4-4c41-4665-b7c8-ad7f46541d16%26ru%3d%252fdefault.aspx&wct=2011-08-28T21%3a33%3a22Z&wauth=urn%3afederation%3aauthentication%3awindows
Which comes up with:
Error
There was a problem accessing the site. Try to browse to the site again.

We get this in one of the IIS logs:

MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE
This is the embedded version of SQL Server on the machine.
Are you using this?
I often see this on servers when someone attemped to install Share Point.
What SQL server are you using? What version.
You will find the embedded version of SQL installed in the profile that installed it.
You may find this thread helpful.http://www.sharepointgrind.com/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=17

Hmmm, do you think that could be causing the problem. It's possible that someone may have tried to install sharepoint on that server previously.
The Dynamics stuff using Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition (64-bit) v10.50.2500.0
I think that ADFS is using \\.\pipe\mssql$microsoft##ssee\sql\query which is Microsoft SQL Server Windows Internal Database (64-bit) v9.00.5000.00
Thanks,
Dave.

That could be a problem my friend.
Always so a COMPLETE forensic of a server before deploying an applicaiton like CRM or Great Plains or SharePoint.
And that sure looks like the embedded version to me.

Ok, fantastic I was looking for ANOTHER reason to do a complete reinstall of Dynamics and ADFS! ;o)
I'll give that a whirl and update here if that does it...
Thanks for that Curtis! -

Redoing it all again it sems that the Windows Internal Database is installed as part of ADFS...
What I did notice was that when adding the binding for the Dynamics web site for https to be 444, it complains that "This binding is already being used by a product other than IIS. If you continue, you might overwrite the existing certificate for this IP Address:Port combination. Do you want to use this binding anyway?"
Could that be related to the problems we are getting?
Thanks,
Dave.

Ok, going through http://www.interactivewebs.com/blog/index.php/server-tips/microsoft-crm-2011-how-to-configure-ifd-hosted-setup/ step by step we are now fine all the way through until we get to the last test after Step 18 and I get the very familiar:
Error
There was a problem accessing the site. Try to browse to the site again.
If the problem persists, contact the administrator of this site and provide the reference number to identify the problem.
Thanks,

You may find that this blog helps clean up that error: http://www.interactivewebs.com/blog/index.php/crm/event-id-17137-from-source-mssqlmicrosoftssee/
