clutching at straws here, but is the SSRS service set to start up automatically?
I presume that the test was from the crm server? (You probably are co-hosting if the name of the SSRS is anything to go by)

When you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM with SQL 2008 Reporting Services the following error occurs in the Environmental Diagnostics Wizard (EDW):
Setup failed to validate specified Reporting Services Report Server <ReportServerURL>.
for solution
Update the RSReportServer.config file using the following steps:
- In Windows Explorer, locate the ReportServer directory. The following path is the default path of this directory: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer
- Right-click RSReportServer.config, click Open With, click Notepad and then click OK.
- Locate the following Add Key entry: <Add Key="SecureConnectionLevel" Value="2"/>
- Change the Value setting from 2 to 0.

09 April 2012 9:14Than please check the following settings.
you need make sure you have added the user ids and machines to he Activie Directory groups, if you do not have Domain Admin access. If you SSRS and SQL are working indpendently, then usually that's where the issues lie.
Please check this link for step by step for installing MS CRM with pre-created AD groups.

Hi,
I already checked all these guides and no one is suitable to me since I am facing a different error.
"Setup failed to validate specified Reporting Services Report Server http://crm:8080/reportserver. Error: Unknown exception thrown by report server. Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response."
Thanks

I am currently getting the same error on one of the systems. This machine also has SharePoint installed on Port 80. Were you able to fix this? Any help appreciated.
Thanks!

The report service is on SQL2008R2, did you configure the new port to be 8080 using SQL RS Config tool?
Have you change anything else like service credentials? or install additional RS instance? As i see it, you are planning to use CRM website on port 80 so you moved the reports to port 8080.
It is possible that simple restart or two will do the job (to the server).

In our case,
CRM is to be installed on Port 5555
Sharepoint was installed on Port 80
SSRS was installed on Port 80
The environment check for installing CRM 2011 reports the same error as shown in the original first post pointing to SSRS reportserver url on port 80

Hi,
The same reportserver will be using by any other application, if so create one separate SQL instance and create one separate reprotserver URL.
Check whether on same port 8080 any other applications running.
Check whether port is blocking by firewall ?
Check whether from which user you have installing CRM, that CRM user having authentication to access report server URL.
Check authenciation is set for particular user or by network user.

Hi,
Try using the SQL SRS server IP address just in case dNS is resolving to the incorrect location.

Do not use more services on single machine. I resolved this issue by installing SQL server on separate VM and CRM on separate VM by configuring them in a domain environment.XpresServers Hosting

Please use separate VM for SQL server and separate VM for CRM and separate VM for sharepoint server. If you have only 1 machine (dedicated server) then consider about Hyper-V and your all problems will resolve automatically.XpresServers Hosting
