    If I want to be "forward thinking"... Can  a device such as the Dialogic Media Gateway 4000 which is designed for OCS 2007 R2 serve as the hardware interface for implemeting an IVR application with Speech Server or the UC API? 

    I guess being new to VoIP and what-not I'm not sure whether I'm comparing apples-to-apples... I see on sites like Dialogic that they have cards specifically for IVR such as the D/240JCT-1T1 ....   

    It would seem to be ideal to implement the media gateway version so that they could use the hardware for an across-the-board telephony hardware device without it being specifically for IVR...

    It should work fine, MSS requires SIP over TCP though so I'd make sure the selected gateway does that.
