My secondary hard drive (Seagate Maxtor 6Y120L0 - 120GB) has been in place for 3.5 years. All of a sudden it has disappeared from "my computer" & the drive letter is now allocated to a cd/dvd rom drive.
On start up - on the health check screen - the disk is usually there (though occasionally not) and showing the correct capacity.
The disk is shown on Device Manager and shown as working properly but when populating volumes it comes up as type - unkown, status - unreadable with 0 MB capacity.
I don't think this is a Windows XP SP3 issue as that particular pc has not been updated recently. But, just in case, I have re-installed Windows XP and SP2 but with no success.
Anyone got any other ideas?
