Hello,
We are planning to buy a new server to upgrade Windows 2008 R2 and want to migrate existing Windows 2000 to that server.
We want the Windows 2000 server is secndoary DC for backup (existing domain), we known how to to migration.
Just a question is can I hold both Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2000 in same Domain for replication?
Thanks !

yes. sure...just leave the forest functional level in 2000
but beware about some of the service cannot replicate between 2000 and 2008 eg. DFS
P.S. anyreason you need to keep the 2000 server?

I suggest you can refer to the document Prepare a Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 Forest Schema for a Domain Controller That Runs Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2
