Dear All,
unfortunately the upgrade CRM 3 to 4 failed and after that I decided to deinstall CRM 3.0 my CRM data are saved in a SQL 2005 database.
How can I get the SQL database back into a CRM 3.0 or better into CRM 4.0. I installed the CRM 3 again but I am not able to access the data...?
Thank you
Torsten

Did you have a running MS CRM 3.0 on SQL 2005 and tried to upgrade that to MS CRM 4.0 ?
Did you perform a full database backup of the MS CRM 3.0 databases before perfoming the upgrade?
To get 3.0 back up, you would need to restore the 3.0 databases (MSCRM and METABASE) to SQL 2005. Once restored, re-install MS CRM 3.0 using the 'custom' method. Specify that restored databases and that should be it.
What was the error when trying to upgrade to 4.0 ?
Thanks,

Hi Karlo,
thank you for your fast reply.
Yes I had a running CRM 3 on SQL 2005 and tried to upgrade to 4.0. The issue was that the SQL 2005 were on a virtual Server with a different language than the physical server (physical server German; virtual server English). During the first Upgrade trial an error came up because the expected service "Netzwerkdienst" was not found on the virtual server their it is "networkservice"... the installation failed. A installation through a new "CRM service acct." solves this problem.
After that only "repair" and "deinstall" was available. After the deinstallation we tried to install the CRM 3 again and we tried to connect the new CRM with the existing SQL database.
2 Errors came up:
License problem:
My valid license key was not accepted because in the database is the same key. we solved this with a key from a trial version in anticipation of that this problem is solved after the upgrade to CRM 4.
After this the following error stoped the installation: During the test of the system requirements the message "Microsoft CRM Server – user input" there are no service accounts available stopps the installation.
So there we are, do you have any ideas?
