venerdì 13 novembre 2009 15:34Hi,
I'm having trouble validating a Win7 Home Premium x 64 clean install (to new partition) upgrade. Activation went fine. At the validation site ( http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/ValidateNow.aspx?displaylang=en) - on pressing" Validate now" I get sent to a generic screen with info about WGA & validation (http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/Windows7/Windows7Validation.aspx?displaylang=en&sGuid=1ec5c8d3-4a16-4bc9-892f-16d25778594e) but there is no indication about the validation result.
I have run the self help diagnostics test and installed the plug ins for OGA & WGA. Test results indicate thebrowser and settings are OK. Have tried using both IE8 and Firefox with the same lack of result. Validation of Office 2007 at the same site works fine with a notice that Validation is successful. Is there an issue with the process for Win 7 as I have seen a similar post elsewhere?

Yes, the Online Validation Checks for Windows 7 are not currently enabled. Any content that is protected by an Online Validation Check (such as some software on the Microsoft Download site) will detect the OS as Windows 7 and will automatically allow it to pass without a scan.
The real Validation workhorse is Windows 7's Internal Validation Checks, which are functional regardless of the Online Validation being enabled or not.
