I'm running the original copy of Windows 7 that was preinstalled on my Acer Aspire notebook and it has been working fine for a couple of years. Now I'm getting a window that pops up and tells me I'm not running genuine Windows. I reentered the product key and received notice that it processed and my copy was validated but still get the notice popping up. The forum instructions for this issue say it's complex and to run the diagnostics and post the info here so that info follows:

The tampered file is the source of your problem.

The simplest way to fix this is probably going to be to uninstall and reinstall KB971033 (the WAT Update)

Uninstall the WAT Update from Installed Updates (Sort in order of Name, then look for Update for ‘Microsoft Windows (KB971033)’)

Reboot, and run another MGADiag report – post the results, then download and install the KB971033 Update manually from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033 – you’ll need the 64-bit (x64) version.

Run another MGADiag report, and post the result again.
