can't run programs

  If you installed onecare from the cd bought from a store then you should be able too run a virus scan off the installation disk. Im not completly sure that you can but i know norton disks allow you too.

  Also if you think you have a virus i would turn off your wireless router when your not using it becasue depending on the virus it may be using your internet

  Is it only .exes that will not run? or just autostart up programs?

  No it was installed online.  I do all my work online so it is difficult to turn off my wireless.  I have turned it on and off but it didn't solve the problem.  Thanks

  It seems just autostart programs - anything to do with the internet.  I can use all MS office programs no problem.  Except outlook.  Anything that has to connect with the internet is a problem.

  Post what error message you get when you try too start a program.

  I was just working on your last post.  I am going to try starting in safe mode and follow their instructions.  I am not sure if I will be successful because I don't get an error message the program just hangs.

  did you ever find a way to solve this problem? because i think i'm having the same problem.

  my wireless icon shows im offline but the internet works. my onecare wont work and it says "The Windows Live OneCare service is not working or has been stopped. To correct this problem try restarting your computer. If the problem persists contact support". 

  Restarting has not worked and anything that microsoft needs my permission to continue, like system restore or onecare cleanup pretty much freeze my start bar.

  I was thinking it was my internet connection because its new and i didnt have problems before the new connection.

  any ideas or tips you have would be great.. thanks!
