My mother-in-law was running WLOC when her subscription was up and she went to renew it. a message came up saying that they were not renewing the sub scription.
She started having problems with it not updating and protecting her comupter. I went in and removed WLOC through add remove programs and thought it was gone only to find I was still locked out of turning the firewall back on. It say see admin for group policies.
This is XP home there is no group policies as in XP Pro. what is my next step? I need to get her firewall back up so she is protected again.
Thank you in advance for your time.
George

Try the OneCare removal tool first:
If that doesn't resolve the firewall issue, try this:
Start/Run - type "regedit" without the quotes, click OK
Delete these Registry keys if they exist:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall
\DomainProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall
\StandardProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)
WARNING - editing the registry could cause your PC to be unusable.
You can also contact OneCare support for help:
