    Hi

I am a working as a software developer in dot net technology for the past 1.5 years. I was in asp.net 1.1.. I like to do a Microsoft certification. I went through the site and found a lot. I can't get which to choose from. I like to do a certification in .Net Framework 3.5.
For that should i do the certification in the previous versions. I have worked with .Net 1.0 and 2.0. Which would an ideal certification for me? Should i do the certification in framework 2.0 or the new 3.5. Which is the suitable certification.

    I am confused.Please advice.

    Regards

In Asp.net you need to start with 2.0 exams because those exams deals with many structural features new to Asp.net 2.0 you need to know, like Asp.net application services like membership, the uses of the Web Admin tool, major changes in custom controls. I have passed all the 2.0 Web exams in C# they are the best exams because both covers the whole Asp.net infrastructure from planning to deployment.

However I don't think the .NET framework exam the 70-536 is a good exam but you have to pass that even for the 3.5 exams. I will be glad to answer most questions you have.

    Hi

Thanks for the advice.  I checked for  2.0 exams. I found MCTS(Technology Specialist) and in that I found the exam 70-536. I think it is must. Which is the certification you have passed?

I found MCTS for web application and also for windows applications. I like to go with the web.

I have passed 70-528 and 70-547 with the 70-536 for the Web MCPD in C# so for MCTS you just need 70-536 and 70-528 for the Web MCTS.  You take the 70-547 if you also want MCPD.

    I have acquired MCDST.

I would like to take on another certification more on Desktop / Network path.
Which certification track would you suggest?

    Thanks in advance!

If you would like to move forward with Desktop Support I'd suggest  the MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician. One upgrade exam (70-621) is required to obtain two additional certifications.  With this exam you will both upgrade your MCDST to the MCITP: EST and obtain the MCTS: Windows Vista.

More information about the MCITP: EST can be found here...

    MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator
    MCITP: Enterprise Administrator
    MCITP: Server Administrator
