    Hi,
I work as a .net 3.5 windows and web developer and would like to study for both windows and web exams.
    Questions:
    1) What are the exam numbers I should be studying for?
    2) Do you recommend exam cram books?

    Thanks

    Hey,

To be certified as an MCTS in .net 3.5 in either windows or web technologies you shall have to appear for 2 exams for each of the technologies:

    1) WINDOWS: Exams 70-536 & 70-505

    WEB: Exams 70-536 & 70-562

Note here that for either case, you shall have to clear the 70-536 exam first ... That is the base exam on clearing which you shall be allowed to appear for the either 70-505 or 70-562 or both

    2) As for the books, Microsoft press has published books for the respective exams Titled as MCTS 70-536 Self Paced Training Kit (for the 70-536 exam)

Additionally, you can also take practice tests offered by testking etc if u like

    'Hope this helps...

    Hi,
To obtain the MCTS certifications for Web and Windows developer for 3.5, Ravi has the combination of exams that you will need to pass. I have taken these exams and have found that the MS Press training kits do a good job of covering the subjects that you will be tested on.  Don't just read the books.  Make sure that you work through each of the labs.  These help reinforce the concepts. Additionally, the training kits include practice tests from MeasureUp. MeasureUp and SelfTestSoftware are two of the approved pracitce test providers for MS exams.

    I am interested in C#.
    1)
Are these exams in vb.net, c# or both?

    2)
Can not decide between two web exams 70-562 and 70-564.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Please note that C# is little more than a tool that the Framework uses to specify his command to the framework(a syntactical formality) .... Hence C# without the framework is nothing by itself.... So the min u can aim for is a 70-536 exam which covers framework fundamentals (ie... in C# objects & functionalities offered).

However, 70-536 by itself does not get u a certification. You need to take another exam to get that...

As for deciding between 70-562 & 70-564, it turns out that 70-564 gets u a MCPD certificate & 70-562 gets u a MCTS certificate. The primary differene between then seems to be that 70-562(MCTS) focuses directly on your technical expertise in terms of coding, debugging, etc. whereas 70-564(MCPD) focuses on how you use your knowledge to overcome challenges in your job ... at least that is what I got out of the following links:

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcpd.aspx

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/exam.aspx?ID=70-562&locale=en-us

Go thru these urself to get a clearer understanding .'Hope this helps

Is there an exam cram book for 70-562 ?
I can not seem to find one.
I prefer the exam cram style because it has brief points and questions.
    Thanks
