Hi
we are using crm 2011, a user has accidently deleted a account,
what would be the best way to restore this account from a backup, i seen some solutions if you have logging enabled which we dont.
what i have done is restored the backup db imported as a seperated organisation,
logged in and exported the account and contacts.
great but it is missing notes, completed activities. history and data in related entities.
there must be a way to recover a entire account with all data?
please help?
thanks

For a complete restore - will need the crm database backup and restore it vs. importing the data. This will ensure all the related data are intact to the point of backup.
What's the reason for not just restoring the crm database from backup?

hi thank for the reply,
reason is that data is entered by our helpdesk and accounts updated freuquently,
so CRM was not taken offline immediatly and the back up was from the night before.
So what is the best way to import the data from a backup im sure a complete database restore cant be the only option?

Hi,
When you try to delete an account, you will get a message as attached as screen shot:
So as per above message all the records under account will be deleted. This includes Notes as well. The notes will also have been deleted. From your database restore you will have to restore notes also. There is no easy way to recover the data.
Instead of going for unsupported way and changing the database directly, I suggest go to the restored account and add everything manually (notes and the data in related entities). For the history and competed activitied, just export them from the restored ORG and keep it as a excel file on your network drive or attach as a file to a new note on that restored account.
Also in future always deactivate account, it is easy to activate back again.
I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.
