I recently restored my Dell XPS 410 pc to its factory settings by holding F8 on start-up and then doing a restore using the factory restore image. After completing the restore, Vista started giving me weird error messages about the product not be activated. If i try to access the control panel, when i get into the control panel, there are no options for me to choose. Also, when i click start and then right click computer and then select properties, Vista will not allow me to access the computer properties. I sometimes get messages such as "An unauthorized change was made to windows" and when i start up a user account this message displays and then kicks me back to the home screen.
Does anyone have any solutions for this?
I have the Vista product key and even the one time i could manage to get into the computer properties and click "click here to activate windows now", again Vista blocked me and threw the "An unauthorized change was made to windows" message.
